How it works

From your message to their doorstep.

Four steps, the same for every errand, from a gas refill in Nyeri to a land search in Eldoret. You stay in control at each one, and your money only moves when you say so.

The four steps

  1. 1

    Tell us the errand

Tell us what needs doing, where, for whom and by when. Attach a shopping list, a photo of the plot or a voice note if it helps.

A confirmed price and time, in writing

  2. 2

    We match an errand agent

We match someone who lives in or near that town and has done errands like yours before. For investigations, a licensed investigator; for site visits, someone who knows construction.

Most errands matched within the hour

  3. 3

    Watch it happen

Updates arrive as the errand moves: at the shop, at the gate, on site, at the registry. Every photo carries the time and GPS position it was taken at.

Photos, receipts and notes, kept on file

  4. 4

    Approve, then pay

When the errand is done you get a short report: what was done, what was spent, and the proof. Nothing is paid out until you approve it.

    Nothing released without your OK

What comes back to you

Proof for every errand, kept on file.

  • Photos with time and GPS

Every handover, every site visit, stamped with when and where it was taken.

  • Scanned receipts

Every shilling spent on your behalf, matched to the budget you set.

  • A written report

What was done, who was met, anything that needs your attention.

  • Signed handovers

The person who received the delivery signs for it, by name.

How your money moves

Held by HomeKwetu until you approve.

  1. You pay

By card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal or M-Pesa, in your own currency.

  2. Held by HomeKwetu

Your money waits with us. Nobody can touch it until you approve.

  3. You approve

Once the report and proof are in, you confirm the errand is done.

  4. Errand agent paid

Only then is your errand agent paid. Not right? We redo it or refund you.

Who exactly will be running my errand?

A HomeKwetu errand agent who lives in or near the town where the errand is. Every errand agent has had their national ID verified, holds a current police Certificate of Good Conduct, has been interviewed in person with two referees called, and completed supervised trial errands. We tell you who is on your errand before they start.

How do I pay, and when does the errand agent get paid?

You pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal in your own currency, or by M-Pesa if you prefer. HomeKwetu holds the money, and the errand agent is paid only after you approve the finished errand, and anything bought on your behalf is paid for from our accounts so it leaves a receipt.

What if something goes wrong?

Then the HomeKwetu Promise applies: if the errand wasn't done as agreed, we redo it at no cost or refund you in full.

How quickly will my errand be picked up?

We run errands during the day, Kenyan time. Most are matched within the hour, and anything sent overnight is picked up first thing in the morning. Scheduled errands, like weekly visits to your parents or your site, run on the days you choose.

Home is one message away.

Tell us what needs doing and where. Most errands are picked up within the hour, and nothing is paid until you say it's done.
